Systems Adminstrator (SF)

Fluid (http://www.fluid.com) develops and sells the Fluid Retail(TM) suite of online merchandising tools that simplify, automate, and optimize online merchandising. Fluid also designs and develops award-winning interactive digital retail experiences for clients including Reebok, Timberland, JanSport, Mattel, and The North Face. For years Fluid has been a leader in the development of single page architecture rich internet applications.

Fluid is looking for a Jr. Systems Administrator to join our IT and Systems Engineering team. The primary responsibilities of this position are providing desktop and server support for our internal corporate network. We seek candidates with both the interest and the ability to acquire the skills to expand the role to also support the engineering efforts of Fluid's software developments teams.

We favor Linux and Open Source software for core network services internally and for engineering efforts but we are a heterogeneous environment with a significant number of MS Windows and Apple OS X servers, workstations, and laptops.

Requirements

  • Reliable, task-oriented, and interested in learning new technologies.
  • Ability to multitask on day-to-day support work and also maintain steady progress on project work as time is available.
  • Ability and willingness to document your work.
  • Ability to interact with both highly technical and less technical Fluid team members in a technical support role.
  • Working knowledge of various core network services including DNS, DHCP, CIFS and NFS file services, SMTP, IMAP, HTTP(S), LDAP, and SSH.
  • Working knowledge of the following operating systems: CentOS Linux, MS Windows XP Pro and various Windows Server products, Apple Mac OS X.

Optional

  • Configuration of switches, routers, load-balancers, and VPN devices.
  • Various server virtualization packages: VMWare, XenServer, VirtualBox.
  • Experience with MS Exchange and/or Small Business Server.
  • Scripting in one or more of the following: BASH, Python, PHP, Ruby.
  • Puppet configuration management.
  • Version control systems: CVS, Subversion, Mercurial.
  • Interest in working in a cloud computing/VPS environment: EC2, Rackspace, and Linode.
